Wilhelmina M. Manzano, MA, RN, NEA-BC, has served as Senior Vice President & Chief Nursing Officer for NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital & Health Care System since January 2004. Prior to that she held various positions including Vice President, Patient Care Services NYP/ Columbia & Chief Nursing Officer – NYPH. Ms. Manzano provides hospital-wide leadership in the development and implementation of strategies to facilitate a patient-centered approach to care. She is a co-leader in the development and implementation of eLearning strategies across the hospital, and also created the Nurse Credentialing Office to ensure compliance with nurse credentialing and privileging for all registered nurses, including advanced practice nurses. Ms. Manzano leads the System’s Center for Professional Nursing Practice to ensure hospital-wide nursing education and promotion and advancement of nursing through evidence-based nursing practice and research. She also serves as assistant dean for clinical affairs and adjunct clinical assistant professor of nursing at Columbia University School of Nursing in New York.
Her volunteer leadership includes service on the board of the Friends of the National Institute of Nursing Research (FNINR); New York-Presbyterian/ Lawrence Hospital; Columbia University School of Nursing, New York University College of Nursing.
She is a member of the American Nurses Association, American Organization of Nurse Executives, Sigma Theta Tau, the Philippine Nurses Association of America, and the Health Management Academy CNO Forum and is a fellow in The New York Academy of Medicine. She earned her Board Certification in Nursing Administration, Advanced (NEA-BC) from the American Nurses Credentialing Center.
Ms. Manzano received her undergraduate and masters in nursing administration from New York University and is a fellow of the Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania.
