Tom Tefft recently retired as President of the neuromodulation unit at Medtronic. He served as Senior Vice President at Medtronic since 2009 where he oversaw the research, development, operations, and product sales and marketing for the Medtronic Inc.'s products and therapies used in the treatment of chronic pain, movement disorders, spasticity, overactive bladder and urinary retention, benign prostatic hyperplasia, and gastroparesis.
Tefft joined Medtronic in 1992 as Assistant Corporate Controller. He served as Vice President and Corporate Controller of Medtronic, Inc. His responsibilities included all accounting and financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, and Sarbanes-Oxley compliance. Previously at Medtronic, Mr. Tefft served as the Vice President of Finance at Cardiac Rhythm Management group and served as Vice President and Controller for Medtronic's Europe, Middle East, and Africa operations. Prior to Medtronic, he spent 10 years at Price Waterhouse in Minneapolis, where he managed the audits of several large multi-national companies.
Mr. Tefft has served as a Member of the Standing Advisory Group at Public Company Accounting Oversight Board (PCAOB) since 2009. He also serves as a board member of the Nicholas Center for Corporate Finance and Investment Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business. He is also a member of the board of Children's Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota (Children’s Minnesota) since 2014.
Mr. Tefft received his bachelors of arts degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1982.
