Kathleen Malloch and Tom Tefft Named to
American Nurses Foundation Board of Trustees

SILVER SPRING, MD – The American Nurses Foundation (the Foundation), the philanthropic arm of the American Nurses Association (ANA), has named Kathleen Malloch, PhD, MBA, RN, FAAN, and Thomas Tefft to its Board of Trustees.

“Kathy and Tom bring a wealth of expertise to our Board,” said Foundation Chair Tim Porter-O’Grady, DM, EdD, APRN, FAAN, FACCWS.  “Both will play a critical role in helping the Foundation meet its mission of transforming our nation’s health through the power of nursing.”

A nationally known writer and speaker, Dr. Malloch has been a registered nurse for over 40 years, and her work has been published extensively in proctored health journals.  Additionally, she is a frequent presenter and author on leadership topics, healthcare innovation, professional nursing practice, and patient classification systems.  Currently, Malloch teaches in the leadership of innovation track in the nursing doctoral program at Arizona State University.  Most recently, she helped create the Executive DNP Program at The Ohio State University College of Nursing.

Malloch is a graduate of Wayne State University College of Nursing.  She received her MBA from Oakland University and a PhD in nursing from the University of Colorado. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Nursing.

Tom Tefft recently completed a 24-year career at Medtronic PLC.  In this role, he was the senior vice president and president of the Neuromodulation business unit where he oversaw the research, development, operations, and product sales and marketing for Medtronic's products and therapies used in the treatment of chronic pain, movement disorders, spasticity, overactive bladder and urinary retention, and gastroparesis.  Previously, Tefft held numerous finance leadership roles at Medtronic and spent 10 years at Price Waterhouse Coopers prior to joining Medtronic in 1992.

Tefft currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Children’s Hospitals and Clinics of Minnesota.  He also serves on both the Dean’s Advisory Board and the Advisory Board of the Nicholas Center of Corporate Finance and Investment Banking at the University of Wisconsin-Madison School of Business. Tefft received his bachelor’s degree in accounting from the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
